After installing a Windows XP Upgrade (upgrage from Windows98) I have FAR less Hard drive space available. I feel the reading HAS to be inaccurate. Before the upgrade, I had 8 out of 12 GIGS available. Now, I'm showing only 1.4 GIGS available. EXPLAIN: After installing XP, I tried to run the DEFRAG. The XP Defrag utility shows how much HD space you have available. This cannot be right. Whats going on? PLEASE HELP! E-mail me your answers please. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Hello,

The problem here is that you upgraded over top of Windows 98. When you do this, you can run into not just the problem you are describing, but several other issues can result as well.

When you install an Operation System or upgrade to a new one, make sure to format and install, rather then installing over top of another OS.

In other words, a full clean install will solve this problem
