I installed a window update this morning that made my system crash. All seemed ok until I rebooted (as the message said to do) when I did there was no screen resolution...everything was grey and grainy. I could not do anything at all. I ended up having to reinstall my xp disc. Luckily I had everything backed up! So is this a virus going around or something, does anyone know? What I do know is that I will NOT be installing anymore windows updates. Willow

My computer is Compaq also. Just to say, some Windows Updates can cause other problems to happen in XP. For example: If I install the IE 6 Update Q832894, I then find that all the Help Topics were gone in Windows HELP Index.
