I don't mean to be naive, but does this update have something to do with sp2?? I ask, because I don't want anything to do with sp2... It buggers my settings. I lose the ability ro use certain hardware in sp2, and while I'd love to have it, I just can't. It causes too much grief. I don't know what updates I can have because of that threat, and so left my pc alone with sp1. that keeps my system the way I like it. Damn wish i could stay up to date though grrrr.

Yoda- it shouldn't be a problem with SP1. I had trouble with SP2 on both my machines. This solved it. If you have trouble with sp2 after installing boot to the safe mode and go to the boot.ini file in C: drive, Open properties and uncheck the read only box. Then open the file with notepad. Look for /noexecute=optin. Change it to /noexecute=AlwaysOff. This has worked for me as drwtsn.exe file has stopped the loading at the desktop

Strange that MS would post the following:
This update addresses an issue that could cause your system to stop responding if certain firewall or antivirus programs are installed. You can help resolve this issue by installing this HTTP.sys update from Microsoft. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer..
Why didn't MS list those "certain" FW + AV programs?
