Hello Guyz,
Actually I have to Uninstall Windows XP-the only operating system I have.I tried the following which didn't work:

1.I opened "add or remove programs".But there the program Uninstall windows Xp is not listed.
2. I tried running osuninst.exe from c:/>windows\system32 command prompt. That gives me the msg-"Setup cannot uninstall Windows XP because the necessary registration information is missing"
3.Actually I am doing all this b'coz i want to install win2k server which i cannot while running XP.When I run win2kos CD it says "setup functionalities of CD will be disabled b'coz the CD is from an older version of windows than the one I am currently using".Then I tried booting from CD directly by making the CDROM my 1st boot drive that also didint work and the command prompt flagged the msg-select the proper boot device or insert media in current boot device..Ofcourse i had inserted the Win2kOS CD.
4.I tried disabling my harddrive from CMOS and again tried booting form Cd giving it the first boot priority. That also didnt work and flagged the same message.
Plzzzz help frndz.
ThankYou.

ThankYou for your time and valuable suggestions!

Do you have any files etc that you need to save? If not then instead of trying to uninstal windows you should be looking to format the drive. If it is a FAT32 partition then boot up with a 98 or ME bootdisk and type the command Format c:/u
presuming your drive is C.
If the drive is NTFS you can use the same bootdisk and enter FDISK to access tools to delete the current non-dos partition and create then create a new partition. Not sure but I think once you have a new active partition you can then boot up with your 2K instal disk and format it in NTFS. Download from www.bootdisk.com if you don't have a 98 bootfloppy.

Did you try booting with the Xp cd ??

If not try booting the comp with the XP cd, when it gives you the message press any key to boot from cd hit the entery key.

Follow normal install procedure as your were going to install it !! when you get tot the point where the partition information is displayed, highlight the C partition and delete it.

You will be asked to confirm the deletion, do so. This will remove XP and the C partiiton totaly.

Once tha is done recreate the partition again, it will now show you as being a RAW partition. At this point press pf3 and abort the instalation procedure, when the computer reboots hit the delete key to bring the bios up, just for the moment, remove the xp cd and insert the win 2K CD.

Make sure the boot order is still reading CD Rom, Floppy, HDD0, save and exit the bios, the cd will boot the comp and commence the install procedure.

You cant remove XP in the manner you explained.

Try what I suggested and see how you go.

Hope that helps

IF IT AINT BROKE, DONT FIX IT
