Right now I currently have Windows xp Professional on my PC that originally came with Windows ME. I do not like xp and I want to 'down-grade' to Windows 2000? How would I do this?

Also I forgot to add, When I try to run Windows 2000 setup in xp I get a windows that says "This CD-ROM is from an older version of Windows that you are presently using. Setup functionality from this disk will be disabled." And all I can select is: "Browse this CD" and "Exit". And is there a way I can keep the Windows xp current users?

maybe it's not such a good idea to post your real email address when you flame someone. flame Zod at his own personal email account.

as you obviously found out, you cannot run the setup from inside Windows. the 2000 CD is a bootable CD, boot to it, then you can delete the XP partition and recreate a new one for 2000.

On a more helpful note, Windows editions don't support "downgrading"--it goes against better business practices, and it's just plain difficult to write an upgrade procedure for an operating system that hasn't been written/released yet. I'm afraid you'll have to do the dreaded Clean Install. You can backup each user's favorites, contacts and email stuff, but that's about all. There may be a third-party software that can help you, but I haven't heard of it.

Win2K is not a bad OS. It's solid, it enjoys an extensive hardware driver base, and it doesn't have a lot of annoying "features" to disable before you can enjoy using it. It runs circles around Me; it's easier to take seriously than XP.

Hi

I have XP home and have continual problems with it. I have reloaded 3 times now (clean installs) and have different problmes each install despite upgrading all software and hardware. I am seriously thinking of going to W2000 instead. It seems to be easier ti use than XP - LESS buggier to quote someone above
