I recently deleted many of the files from the temp folder, under local settings, on my computer. After doing so, Windows sometimes has trouble loading. It will get past the XP loading screen, but then just restart. It will then load fine the second time through, but I can't figure out why it's crashing the first time. I know i should have left the files in the recycle bin, but im an idiot. Any ideas?

Probably a coincidence, there should not be anything in the temp folder that would make Windows not start right.

go to run and type
msconfig
go to the startup tab. Is there anything there that says "dumprep 0-k" (or to that affect) listed with a check next to it? Also, under C:\WINDOWS\Minidump are there any files? And if there are, are there any with a date and time of when this restart happened? This kind of thing happens to me about every once out of 10 times i reboot.

I agree with domass. Be sure you know whether you're talking about the Local Folders Temp files (temp internet files) and the Temp folder in Windows. In any event, Windows will not allow you to delete a temp folder if it's being used, and therefore it shouldn't hurt the rebooting process.
There's no reason why you shouldn't have left files in the recycle bin.

Hi ... If you are talking about this area here " C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp\ " ?? Then you can remove everything in that folder and it wouldn't cause or shouldn't cause any problems with Windows loading , I do it often without any loading up problems , Just remember though not to delete the folder itself but rather whats inside the folder only , Have you used any Registry program ?
