XP Taskbar troubles

i like to keep my taskbar hidden but when using instant messenger if i recieve a message then the taskbar pops into view and the message starts blinking. this is really annoying. can someone help me figure out how to disable this?

You could drag your taskbar to the top of your screen and autohide it there..So, when you IM popped up it should not include your taskbar.. Hope this works...

I used to hide the taskbar myself but made it visible again so I could kill sneaky pop ups behind web pages, a simple right click and close when one appears and jobs a goodan ... about messenger, the task bar icon only pops up and flashes when the message window is minimised, if you leave it maximized but smaller you can see when a new message appears while doing something else and the task bar doesn't piss you off
Summary: Everytime I start windows XP there is an internet search bar within the Windows XP Taskbar. I right click on the taskbar, select toolbars and switch it off but it just comes back everytime I start up....
