xp taskbar frozen

when i start windows xp after everything has loaded, the taskbar when i move my pointer over the taskbar, it changes shape and will not let me hit the start button or anything yet the mouse works perfectly for the rest of the desktop. after about 2-3 minutes, the taskbar starts working and this happens everytime i start win xp. anyone know how to solvle this?

Sounds like something in loading into the system tray on the task bar.... If it takes awhile to load it can lock up the task bar...

Open your System Configuration Utility by clicking on Start/Run/then type 'msconfig' & click ok. When it opens, click on the Services tab, then disable 'Background Intelligent Transfer' & reboot. This happened to me & Microsoft actually has a patch for it on their site, but it didn't help me, so I still have the service disabled. Good luck

I am having the same problem. Can not tell you the fix yet but it is my NIC card causing the problem. Disable and taskbar works fine on boot. Enabled stalls for over a minute.

I have my taskbar on auto-hide but it won't unhide when I drag the mouse to the bottom on the screen.
I have to use the windows key or minimize everything then I can get access to it.
Summary: Everytime I start windows XP there is an internet search bar within the Windows XP Taskbar. I right click on the taskbar, select toolbars and switch it off but it just comes back everytime I start up....
