xp takes long to load
Name: dave_c Date: January 2, 2005 at 20:42:21 Pacific OS: windows xp sp2 CPU/Ram: p4 2.8 775; 512 ddr2
Comment:
-MB = asus p5gdc deluxe
-xp was recently installed
-loading takes a little more than two minutes
-i find this loading time unacceptable, since my older comp. loaded faster
-no programs load at startup, and i always disable unnecessary services (i did this with my old comp.)
-also, i noticed that the horizontal gray bar show up before the windows xp loading screen. i've seen this on many comps., but not all. what makes that gray bar appear?

like i said, no startup programs, etc. no antivirus programs are on auto-protect - i'm sure of it (yes, i'm aware even if auto-protect for norton is disabled, the auto-protect service is still loaded. thus, i disabled it).
it was a format -> install.
temps. are fine; although i don't see what temps. have anything to do with it.

yes, i know about msconfig and services.msc.
i re-visited the BIOS actually and carefully analyzed each function. i made some adjustments and the boot time is now considerably lower.
i'm going to actually time it and post it up (starting from "cold boot").
