While trying to install a program, I ran into the following situation:
- the installer overwrites the existing copy of iphlpapi.dll;
- the system replaces the new copy with the older copy that was originally there.What strikes me as odd is that Windows Restore is turned off, as is Norton's Auto-protect.
So what the dickens is happenin' here?!!

Looks like you've hit the nail on the head, Ryan.
My mistake was in developing under SP3 and trying to install to SP2. One of these days I'll learn...

Hi,
For me, I do not use System Restore at all, I even turned it off to free system resource althouth it does not take too much though.
The windows system restore seems to get infected by the viruses too easily and sometimes turn itself off or other related problem like what GhostWolf have asked.
I used the Hardware PCI or USB HDD data restore device instead.
