Windows XP home will not start! THE BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH

Error= Windows has detected a problem and has halted the system to prevent damage to the computer.

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

STOP 0X0000000D1 (0X00000000, 0X00000002, 0X00000001, 0XFAQBA3A3).

CAN THIS BE CORRECTED OR IS A REFORMAT THE ONLY OPTION, CAN'T FIND ANY INFO FROM MICROSOFT WEBSITE. OR IS THERE A WAY TO INSTALL A CLEAN VERSION OF xp IN ANOTHER DIRECTORY THEN MIGRATE THE OLD SETTINGS AND PROGRAMS INTO THE NEW INSTALL????

No Joy! already checked that
STOP 0X0000000D1 (0X00000000, 0X00000002, 0X00000001, 0XFAQBA3A3).It seams that the key is in the last 10 digit grouping, or the "_EQUAL" can't find any reference to this set of codes, any other help?

When a WinXP system reboots after a bluescreen, it gives you the option to report the problem to Microsoft. You should really take advantage of this offer for free crash analysis. It doesn't understand every possible error condition, but its very good at telling you if the system crashed due to a well-known problem.

Stop 0xD1 crashes are almost always driver problems. Usually, an updated driver is all you need.

that would be nice but, the system will not reboot out of this error, you get the blue screen and the system is halted in all aspects, you cannot pas this point ( no safe mode, no command prompt, no normal boot). the system is dead in the water, which brings up the point if it were a driver there is no way to disable it even if I knew which one it was. when I boot from the XP CD and get to the repair option, it acks for an administrator password. No admin password was ever installed on this system so does anyone have an idea on how to get past the password on the CD, It will not accept a blank password???
