You could start by checking the Event Viewer in Control Panel/Admin tools. If nothing unusual is shown I'd start suspecting hardware - failing power supply? overheated components?

Sounds like a heat problem. Clean out the cpu fan.

Before posting try google. Backup. Use anti virus software.

Failing power supplies are common and can cause your symptoms.
Check your PS.

Just incase you dont know where the automatic restart radio box is that XpUser4Real is talking about....

Right click my computer and click properties. Next click the Advance tab and click the "settings" button underneath the "Startup and Recovery" section. a Dialog box should come up and the Automatically restart radio box is listed underneath the "System Failure" section.

Sounds more like a hardware problem to me. Either the power supply is faulty or the CPU is overheating. There is a program called Speedfan that should be able to monitor your CPU's Temperture (it works with most machines - although it is not always accurate). Search it on google.

My suggestion would be to first check the Event viewer (right click my computer -> Manage->Event Viewer->system) for errors then try XPUser4Real's advice. If both give no clues then your looking at hardware problem most likely. Goodluck!
