When i try to install windows XP over my Windows 98 system it always gets to the first stage of 'rebooting' during setup and then brings up a blue screen saying the setup has stopped to protect my computer and if i have not seen that screen before i should run a number of utilities. I followed the instructions but to no avail, someone help, i'm going mad.

Try closing any virus program if you have one. I had Norton auto-protect on when I tried to install XP on 98, not succeeding before closeing Norton.
