Ok so since about last weekend I've been having a problem with my startup. Out of nowhere, my computer started up saying it couldnt start right and it gave me my options(safe mode, last good config, start normally, etc.) So I click last config or start normally and it goes through the XP boot screen but after that it flashes the blue screen for a split second and then restarts itself. Now its weird because if i let it go long enough and keep restarting itself, eventually windows loads which i really dont understand. I've tried restoring which doesn't seem to help because the problem keeps happening. Can anyone help? I really don't want to do a full reinstall of XP because thats just way too time consuming, and I'd have to move all my documents to my second HD.

Hi kylkey...

You may first want to install Autoruns (from sysinternals.com) and GMER (from gmer.net). For two reasons: One, Autoruns will allow you to disable conflicting startup programs; and two, Gmer will help to diagnos rootkit if any present in your system. I hope that your antivirus and antispywares are fairly updated. Please post Gmer log here if you can so that people can help you better solve the issue. Hope this helps. Cheers..

Start it up in safe mode and look at the event viewer and see if it tells you what is ailing the computer.
start>control panel>admin tools>event viewer and check all 3 options for any issues.
If that is no help then try this:

R.clk my computer>properties>advance tab>system start-up and recovery settings button> uncheck the tick in auto restart..apply and ok out and reboot...when the blue screen comes up record the EXACT error message and post it back here so that we can have a look at finding what it is that is causing the problem!
