Your description is pretty limited. I created this page for a corrupted registry that stops XP from starting:

I'm having somewhat of the same problem. XP restarts during the setup. I also had xp home, but was trying to install xp pro on another partition. i repartitioned with fdisk and am now trying to install only xp pro. any ideas what could be the prob? i'm assuming it's a hardware problem.
