I was just starting my computer, and when it had loaded win xp, it start as if I have win2000 (with all the grey windows, not the 'design' xp style) and, worse, my internetconnections is totally gone. If I open the connections window, my LAN and Firewire connections are gone. If I go to the system window and then to the hardware configuration, also everything is gone. So I can't check if there's something wrong with my network card.. Can you help???

I seems like you installed XP over win 2000. if that is the case, that your problem. I recomend that you format it and reinstal windows xp.

I did NOT install over 2000. the only OS on my computer was and is XP home

I have the same problem. Mine will act fine for a few days or weeks or months, then bam just like this. I will be calling Microsoft tonight to recitfy this issue. I cannot even reinstall XP on my HDD right now. Not even in a clean format!!!!! So I am deducting this to a corrupt XP CD. I left it for a fews weeks with only the minimal needed to run. Still corrupted itself. Will post here later once I am done with the XP techs. Mike

How are you logging into the machine? Sounds like someone/thing is having fun with your user profiles...
