I was working on a computer at work that is connected to the domain. I left the computer running while I went for a drink and came back to notice that the Control Panel, Network Connections & Printers & Faxes options were missing from the Settings menu from the Classic Start Menu. When I switch to the Default XP Start Menu everything is there but when I switch back the same problem. It only occurs with that specific user profile. Other profiles on the computer work fine. The user account is a domain account setup as a local account. Thanks! Steven S.

you could open the ctrl panel and drag/drop the items back on the start menu....

The icons are suppose to reside in the Settings menu within the Start Menu. Windows doesn't allow you to drag and drop into that menu. Steven S.

if you right click start-choose properties-click customize-and select expand for the missing items, click apply and ok. see if that helps.

Have you tried the simple refresh option from view or after right clicking on a black space in the control panel? Another easy fix if that doesn't work is to do a restore to a time previous to when you began experiencing the problem.
