Specs: Windows XP Home Edit SP3, 1.3 GHZ Pentium 3, 6
I've had this laptop now for around 3 years.. It has worked really well. But the last few nights it has random fits where it will freeze completely and the mouse pad is non responsive as is ctrl+alt+del. Originally thought to be overheating as when it first happened the base was quite warm. I did leave it over-night unplugged turned it on the next day and it worked for a few minutes then it happened again leading me to think it isnt a heat related prob. Any help would be greatly recieved.

Spec:
Intel Celeron Mobile 1.5ghz
351 Ram (32 for video)
40gb HDD

It only takes a minute for a machine to heat up if the fan isn't spinning or it's clogged with dust. Take it apart and check it. Also download a program called MEMTEST and run it to check your RAM.

It hasn't got any dust in it as I regulary check/clean it. I would try the memtest tool if it stayed on long enough!
