Ok, I got this Dell SmartStep 100D out of the trash. Nice little machine for BASIC computing. I hooked it up, and it boot right into Windows XP. Looks like the previous owner had just done a fresh install before trashing to wipe the drive of it's previous contents. After about 2 mintutes, it completely froze. Maybe they did the clean install for there own use, but saw that it kept freezing so decided to trash it. It was just SP SP1 on it. I popped in my Dell XP SP3 CD and it installed/activated no problem - but still froze 2 mins after XP boots. Any idea? I just reboot it a few mins ago and just left it sit about 8 mins and I went over, wiggled the mouse, and it wasnt frozen. Seems like it only freezes while actually being used. It has 512mb so it has plenty of ram. HD is spinning fine. CPU not scorthing hot or anything. I didnt test yet swapping ram. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
