Hey all, I have a question for ya: I have a user with an xp pro box and it has 15 updates that state to be for SP2, yet SP2 IS NOT INSTALLED. what the heck is the deal with that?

did she maybe deny installation of sp2 from the autoupdate and allowed installation of the rest that must've downloaded?

I'd ask the user, but she can't remember what she had for breakfast let alone what she clicked on a week ago. I was told a tech from her dept. tried to do an sp2 install and it denied access even though she is an admin of her machine.

any idea if these sp2 (w/o sp2 installed) are actually doing anything useful? I would like to think they are, but don't know there relevancy without sp2 actually installed on the machine.

thanks,
Chuck

If you are viewing these 'SP2' Updates in Add\Remove - then - they are nothing to do with SP2 - they are the Updates which are Installed when the Computer has only SP1

Then - when SP2 is Installed - those SP2 ones disappear - SP2 itself is Listed and any subsequent Updates have only the KB Number beside each
