XP SP2 Connection limit?

I have recently upgraded my Computer to Windows XP, and I usually download a lot at the same time (I use BitTorrent for Linux ISO's, etc, for my test systems.) and I have noticed a siginificant slowdown in my download speeds and lag ever since I've upgraded, I know XP has a connection limit, but I have not read much on it, could this be the cause, if so is there a way to bypass it?
