Microsoft Outlook XP hangs at start-up now (didn't prior to SP1 installation).
Have to re-boot computer and start Outlook in safe-mode, and then restart as normally.

Re-booting the computer is a major headache. Windows seems to be waiting for eternity to re-boot. I usually end up having to do a hard boot.

I seem to get kicked out of Internet Explorer now, for no reason what-so-ever.

Keep in mind, that my XP system worked fine until I installed SP1. Now I'm having all kinds of problems. Microsoft had better issue a fix, and I mean quick!!!!!

I downloaded all the sp-1 and then loaded it. took a long time even with cable modem. Then when I rebooted it my desk top was gone. I had to reload xp from the cd-rom. did it again and it did the same wipe out of my os/. I think Gates and his pack of thieves have put out a load of dog dung in this sp1.

Do not install the sp1. My system now runs extremely slow and the computer freezes frequently. Even when hitting Ctrl Alt and Delete the system does not respond.

I've installed SP1 on two different PCs (one Home and one Pro) - worked flawlessly in both instances, and I see no adverse affects at all... both machines are working like a charm!

I think the previous post may be true. A friend of mine installed Win XP SP1 without installing the Service Packs for Office first, and he had a couple of minor problems, which we fixed immediately.

However, three other friends and I installed both SP1 and SP2 for Office XP the day before installing SP1 for Win XP, and we've had no problems whatsoever.

Our systems boot up and shut down real fast, as they did before, and they never crash. Mind you, they were also running really well before installing all those Service Packs. I emphasize the need to run a few programs (at least once a week) to remove junk and temp files, streamline the registry and optimize system performance. Defragmenting the hard drives on a regular basis is also really important.

I have a weird one - since I installed sP1, I started seeing boex wiht "x"s instead of pictures on a lot of web sites. Also, some secure web-pages all of a sudden wouldn't load all the frames (like the one for my bank account). On a hunch, I disabled the firewall in NIS2000 (which I probably don't need since I access through a router), and the problem is solved. - So if anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate being educated...

After installing sp1, it nows takes about 3 minutes to get to the point where the desktop is ready after logging in. I removed all items from startup folder with no effect.
Restart is quick...but I can go and get donuts before doing any work on my machine...

I installed SP1 on a machine that was working perfectly. Afterwards the machine slowed to a crawl. Boot up was very slow and thumbnails took ages to appear. Images loaded very slowly and I lost my DUN.
I 'restored' back to a previous restore point so no major crisis but I now have a lot of wasted diskspace as I haven't found all the SP1 files and cabs to delete them yet.
