xp SP1 failled and will not install

hey guys i am trying to install the sp1 update for xp, but for some reason will not wokr. I go to the site and do the critical update and will dl but when about to isntall it says cancelled. Same thing is happening with the file, I dl the file from their web site to my computer and then try running it and will not work.

it said some error that it cancelled but it had alredy extracted all the files and it was ready to install it i had even accepted the license agreement :(

Can't really help without knowing the error! Try doing a repair with you XP cd and then try reinstalling SP1 again. With your cd..do not select repair the first time choose full install and then a little later it will give you a repair option again..select it!!

as far as i know all final release versions of xp pro are build 2600 even the warez corp 1

You do have a legal copy of XP correct. I believe that SP1 checks for a certain common cd key that escaped from a major computer maker

Read on XP home page. You have of the 2 "mass pirated" product keys. The SP1 verifies your product key & if it isnt a good one....NO SP1 install and after Oct. 2nd...NO Windows Update access. Thank MICROs--- for that !!
