Can't really help without knowing the error!
Try doing a repair with you XP cd and then try reinstalling SP1 again.
With your cd..do not select repair the first time choose full install and then a little later it will give you a repair option again..select it!!

Are you using WinXP Pro (Build 2600)? If you are, is not going to work!!

You do have a legal copy of XP correct. I believe that SP1 checks for a certain common cd key that escaped from a major computer maker

Read on XP home page. You have of the 2 "mass pirated" product keys. The SP1 verifies your product key & if it isnt a good one....NO SP1 install and after Oct. 2nd...NO Windows Update access. Thank MICROs--- for that !!

Before Oct 2nd comes, there will be a crack released, so don't worry.
There's ALWAYS a crack,it's just a matter of time.
No one can copyright a bunch of 0's and 1's.
I just ripped off Shakespear's Hamlet, but no one will publish it, and I can't understand why!! Please help!!
