Hi all, Since i re-installed XP last week the sound on my desktop hasn't been right. It gets very jittery if i open any other application with either winamp or wmp. I have updated all of my soundcard drivers and codec's. The computer is a 3.2GHz Dell 8400, 1Gb RAM and an onboard soundMAX integrated digital audio. I have also tried 1) disabling the onboard sound and using an old pci sound card and 2) reducing the hardware acceleration to none.

fguinan, jittery sound makes me think 'buffer'. Take a look at the stuff you have running in the background. A lot of today's software writers think the latest version of their treasure is simply indispensible and must run in the background so it's instantly available. Each consumes machine cycles and buffers sound. HTH. Ed in Texas.
