Can anyone tell me what "process" or file is run when I click start->Turn off Computer.

I want to know what file or process bring up the "Turn off Computer" interface which has the option to "Log Off", "Stand by" or "Shutdown"

I quite sure it isn't Shutdown.exe - as that tends to just shutdown the pc but not bring up the menu

Thanks for the suggestion though. Any other ideas? This has me baffled. I've looked through the c:windows/system32 folder and other subfolders in C:windows but I can't seem to find a file or exe that may do this.

I've configured my on/off button to bring the menu up when it is pressed so there must be a process that runs.

I can't find it though!!!!!

If you disable the welcome screen at start up that will bring up the choices you seem to need.
You may know this but shutdown -r = restart
shutdown -s = shutdown.

"No idea", I'm not sure what you mean about disabling the start up screen.

Also, how would I trigger the menu to appear. I know about command line and creating a desktop short cut using those commands.

If you just want the shutdown dialog to appear you can use this js script

(new ActiveXObject("Shell.Application")).ShutdownWindows();

Sorry to have not been clear Vinay.
User Accounts..Change the way users log on...untick welcome screen. When you then shutdown will bring up the same dialog box as the js script
