Whenever I click on Shutdown and Restart it does nothing, I end up having to power off with the power button or hibernate. Tried numerous things but it does not seem to solve the problem.

screen properties/screen saver/monitor power/advanced/power buttons.
you may also have these settings in your bios,cmos advanced power management, should be set to auto
