xp shut down when i use inernet

hi! i have a problem.i have installed xp on another computer and i installed an usb modem.when i am entering in internet the computer its shuting down in one minut.its appearring something saying that to close my work to not lose it because in one minut the computer will be shut down .and they do!so,anyone has an ideea?please!thanx again!

its either the sasser worm or the blaster worm. go to microsoft site and download two things for each: a clean up tool, and a patch to stop it coming back. just type sasser and blaster into the search (seperately) and it'll bring you to the links

emilli, what clubjunk suggested is correct but at the moment you cannot stay more than 1 minute. does the msg mention NT authurity shutdown? if it does then follow this: go to control panel and double click on Network connections and find your ISP connection and right click on it then select properties, then click on Advanced Tab on top and tick the box that says (protect my computer), that is winXP firewall. then connect to the internet and it should not shut down, but what you need to do is to click on Tools in internet explorer and select windows update and download all the critical updates from microsoft.
