I have Windows XP Home and I used to shut my computer down with the Windows Key-u-u. Now I press the Windows Key opens the start button control but pressing u-u does nothing. Anyone know how to fix this?

shoefactory, maybe try something else? Can't tell you why the shortcut went south, but FWIW, Windows seems to have been plagued with shutdown problems of one sort or another since day 1. I use a standalone shutdown proggie (for convenience) called 'Slawdog' (said to work on all versions). Get it free @: http://www.slawdog.com/products/sma... among other places. Works good and I drag/dropped the icon into my quicklaunch so it'd be handy for use. HTH. Ed in Texas.

I like what I did ---- In Windows XP "Power Options", click Advanced tab, then under "When I press the power button on my computer", find and select 'Shutdown'. Now I only have to momentarily push the Power Button, and computer shutsdown in normal fashion.

Thanks, both great ideas. I was just unsure why this happened and thought maybe it was a common problem. When searching the net I did not see a solution. Thanks again for your ideas.
