So, I got this sweet new system built, but i cant install xp like I wanted to. Usb keybard works fine in bios and while setup loads, but right before the measage that say "setup is starting windows" it turns off, num-lock is stil lit, but the keyboard key lights go out and the comp does not responfd to the keybord. I can't hit "enter" to continue or "r" to repair or anything. Its a g15 gaming USB keybard. Any ideas greatly aprisiated. Thanks, Cody

Looks like you are going to need to borrow or get a PS2 keyboard to get past that point & then return to using your USB keyboard after that.

There is a possibility you have a setting or two wrong in the BIOS screens. Check these settings: Enable USB keyboard support On chip USB v1.1+v2.0 Resources controlled by (auto ESCD) If that doesn't solve the problem then proceed to below. Evidently the gaming Keyboard you own is so different that WinXP can't find a suitable driver. To modify Sabertooth's suggestion, temporarily use a STANDARD USB keyboard, which should work, until you are up and running and then install the drivers for the gaming KB.

I like Othehill's suggestion to borrow a standard USB keyboard.
