XP setup can't find partition

Specs: Windows XP, AMD 5200+ 3GB ram
When running setup for XP the program can't find partition even after running delete and create.

what is the error?
are you sure its not seeing the partition or its not seeing the drive?

What partition? If you're running a setup, you can't delete an existing partition if you can't see it.

Perhaps if you explain exactly what it is you're experiencing we can help.

Try going into Recovery Console and use the diskpart command and see if your partition shows up and then set it as the active partition and see if that works for you.

thanks for all the replies. I traced the problem. I was trying to install on what I thought was the active drive, but MS was trying to install it on the first drive in line. If I had read the error messages correctly, I would've saved a lot of frustration. This tells me not to try something when I'm too tired!
