XP Setup 7B Stop Error Problem

When attempting to install Wndows XP over ME, I get an 0000007B stop error after the first reboot. This happens at the point where setup looks at my Zip Drive, which is installed on a SCUSI chain (properly installed, configured and terminated).
The Knowledge Base seems to indicate that this is a known problem with Zip Drives and suggests disconnecting the drive and re-installing XP. If I do this however, I get an 000000ED Unmountable Boot Volume stop error after the first reboot.
