XP says cd/rw disk is blank

I've been using win 98 and have gone over to XP pro, I backed up by copying all data onto a rw/disk via a batch file - NOW when i put the disk in XP says the disk is blank WHY XP is FAT32 as was Win 98

Try downloading new drivers for WIN XP, some drives are not supported, but as yours is seeing the drive it is probably supported. I had the same problem before and installed updated drivers from the CD/RW manufacturer and a couple of reboots fixed it. Hope this helps.

Did you use packett writing on the CDRW? If so, you will have to have it installed on the new OS.

All other disks can be read not sure what type of writing!

You hafta burn the files to the CD, you can't just copy them over and they are magically there. In XP after you copy the files over to the CDRW, you hafta click on Burn These Files to CD or whatever at the top left corner.

WRONG. When using packett writing, one can copy and paste to the CDR or CDRW or choose "send to" from the menu. The formatted disk behaves like a big floppy disk.
