Specs: Windows XP

Im having a real bad time with my laptop. First of all it keeps going into safemode when I start up the laptop. Its a blank screen with safemode in each corner. No icons. No cursor. No anything. I have tried to repair windows. It runs but when it restarts (part of the repair cycle) it sends an error saying that it cant complete in safemode. Even when I start up and press F8 nothing happens. If I could just get it out of safemode I would be able to sort it.

your keyboard might still work.

if yes press the start button and with the arrow keys select RUN
then type MSCONFIG

in the general tab I think you should have NORMAL STARTUP selected.

and in the boot.ini tab you should not have SAFE BOOT selected.

I hope it helps.

If this is indeed a new laptop, contact Dell.
