xp running slow

ok i just bought a dell computer about 1 month ago.....everything seemed to be working and working fast. recently the computers been really slow. if i open a program it takes a minute to come up ect ect....any ideas or help is greatly appreciated thanks

Do you have any music sharing programs running? Anything that runs at start up will slow you down. Go to start/run type in msconfig. Under startup you can see what loads.
