Hope someone can help me :S
I have a sony vaio desktop system that has been playing up for some time now. About 6 months after I bought it, the computer would just restart without warning or messages. I have found out how to get the Blue screen of Death to appear after this has happened and I get mixed messages coming up. Messages like: IRQ_Less_or_Equal and beginning dump of physical memory or A driver tried to use a higher IRQ....
So whilst the system was in warranty with sony i rang them and tey told me to format the system and reload with recovery discs, which i did and it made no difference. Recently I have tried different RAM and power supply unit and also a New Graphics card and it still does it. I have scanned the drive for viruses and I have also cleaned the heatsink from dust but It still just restarts completely randomly. It also does it in Safe Mode!!!
Anybody got any ideas??
Thanks

Right click My Computer,
Properties,
Advanced tab,
Settings button (Starup and Recovery),
uncheck Automatically Restart. Now you should get an error message when it happens again.

I have already done what you have said and written down above that the error messages are all different and listed them above aswell. The knowledge base that you are talking about hasnt got anything apart from check PSU and RAM which i have done by replacing with brand new components.
Is there anything else I can try??!
Could it be software that i have installed?thanks

This can be caused by a virus. You said you checked it for viruses, use a good virus checker (Norton for example) that is updated. Run it in safe mode. If it isn't that, it can be caused by the processor getting too hot. Our P4 toshiba restarts itself sometimes, processor gets too hot, despite having the cooling setting on max cooling and having the heat sink clean.

Hi, sorry for not replying for a long time
I found the problem in the end after hours of stripping the system down and trying different bits of hardware. I found it was the processor, must have been heat damaged in some way or something although the temp readings apperaed to be well within the limits. I put the new processor in and I havent had any problems at all since.
Thankyou all for your help!
:)
