Having a problem with my computer restarting. All of a sudden instead of restarting it shutdowns. Sometimes it might restart but most of the time it shutdown instead. I just installed a WD Raptor hard drive along with the other hard drive I had installed. I have XP Pro running on both hard drives. Not a big problem but a nuisance. Any suggestions?

toppscrt: shutdown instead of restart

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=294427

some folks claim that APM causes this, so try different settings in:

click Start, Control Panel, Category View, Performance & Maintenance, Power Options.

for the first tweak, turn off Hibernation.

let us know what worked for you...
