XP requires reboot after 2 or 3 hours

This just recently started happening. After a few hours, 2 or 3, XP just stops launching programs when instructed to do so. Double clicking on the icon does nothing, except leave me with a dopey look on my face while waiting for it to load, which never occurs.
At this point I'm rebooting XP 2 or 3 times a day now.
No software has been installed of late and this just started happening a few days ago.
Could one of the auto-updates that XP downloads be at fault?
I had the same problem so I just reinstalled. Not that I wanted to but it fixed the prob.

The same thing started happening to me a few days ago. Luckily, there have only been two times that I've had to reboot. I suspect one of the critical updates may be at fault. Whenever a critical update does something that we don't like, that's when we call them critical. :-)If it happens often enough, I'll jump in my time machine and GoBack a few days and see. Cheers.
