I was deleting stuff on my hard drive and my system registry when after my system wont run any executables. I thouught mabye it was something with my computer being crappy so I restarted it. That is when things went downhill my comp may now only run at 640x480 at 4 bit color and i cant execute any .exe files. Ive been looking for solutions on the internet for 3-5 hours now so i am really in need of help. I have done a scan disk, defragmentation, downloading fixs and everything but nothing has worked for me yet.

I hope you backed up your registry before you went about "deleting things".
Try going into "system restore" and pick a restore point date that is before you started messing with the Registry.
Hope this helps, if not, put in your XP disk and boot up to it and choose "repair" at the menu. Otherwise, it's time to reload Windows!

Musky, Go to the link below and click on Windows XP Fixes on the left side of the page, then click the "File Association Fixes" then download & run the "EXE File Association Fix". It should correct your .exe file problem.

My Response Number 2 should have been addressed to Mech instead of Musky. Sorry about that.
Summary: Hi, I was just wondering if it is possible to set permissions on individual string values in the Windows XP registry, or only as far down as key values. Thanks. ...
