Hi folks,
I found the procedures on how to conduct a System Repair using the Recovery Console that was posted on ths forum in 2005 but have one stupid question. Please don't laugh at me! I pasted them below. On point # 7, it says to enter the command. I entered, Repair, but I received a message that said it wasn't correct. I typed Help at the prompt but didn't see anything remotely close to repair. Does anyone know what command I need to enter?
Thanks!
VeetsB=Using XP/OS CD
1 Set BIOS to boot from CD/ROM as first boot device
2 Place CD in the drive and Re-Boot
3 You will see at bottom of the screen to "Press any key to boot from CD/ROM" (Do so now as you have only seconds}
4 You will see "Setup is inspecting your computer" and the files will load
5 You will see "Welcome to setup. Press "R"
6 Enter digit corrosponding to the drive the OS is on.
7 You will see "C:\windows, at this point enter the command you wish to have done.
8 Type "EXIT" to leave recovery console.

Those instructions are for using the recovery Console. Reference the following to do a 'Repair Install'.

FWIW to XP users: When you click on the 'Command Prompt' you are just causing the 'Command prompt' to be displayed. This prompt gives you access to NTVDM.EXE, the 'NT Virtual DOS Manager'.

Why do you feel you need to run a Repair?

aegis1,
That worked thank you!
Jennifer,
My system was acting weird. I kept getting messages when I shut down about msciec or something like that; But I restored and it's ok now.
