I have an emachine T1840 and it got a virus and I didn't have a recovery cd. I used a gateway recovery cd from a laptop and it worked. Now I got another virus and need to use the same gateway recovery cd for XP and I cant figure out how to start it. When I put the cd in, it doesn't do anything and I cant figure out which file initiates the process. Can someone help. c0m

It is not really good to just keep reformating and using a recovery disc to clean up your computer like that. Use a anti-virus program to find and clean your system..also maybe a look at the why you are always getting the viruses...(not trying to be a smart ass here just that the number one way of getting viruses is because of personal surfing /downloading habbits) Open the CD and look for the setup.exe or start.exe and double click it. Load the CD and reboot. If it does not boot from the CD you will need to go into your BIOS and set your cd-rom to boot before your HD. Try f2 to enter BIOS the look for BOOT. You'll see the options.
