Comment:
I recently set up a network using XP Pro. Some files share OK, others do not. On the client computer I get "access denied. contact your administrator etc". I have not set up separate accounts on any computers.

Did that, many times. The problem I have is that I don't know who should be on the list, administrator, administrators, creator, desktop computer, users, system, everyone, etc...I tried a few options but wasn't able to fix it.

I have had exactly the same problem. To solve it I had to use the 'CACLS' command to re-assign access rights to the files as their original rights appeared to have completely disappeared ! Hope this helps.
