Hi guys.I have recently aquired another pc which has XP Pro installed.I suspect that OS is pirated as i dont have an installation disc for it rather......all i have is a cd which is a 5 in one disc.My problem is that the sfc /scannow utility keeps prompting me for an installation disc so it can replace (obviously damaged or corrupt)files to the dll cache.I end up opting for skip this file and there must be at least 70 skips to perform. Also when the sfc has finished it doesnt give a report on what it has done.As i am fairly new to XP can anyone please tell me how i can replace the missing files or at least point the system to where they may be (as i understand that they are on the pc somewhere).

Would be gratefull for any advice.Cheers in advance Ö¿Ö

You do not have an XP retail CD with an I386 folder on it. If you have a restore CD from your PC manufacturer then you may have to explore the CD to find the folder.

When it prompts you for the disk you point it to that folder on the recovery cd.
