Had about 8 power outages the other day and afterward, had problems. First, Outlook Express will not run, only get the opening screen forever and slows the computer down. Next, I have only one restore point which is the previous day. What happened to all of my other restore points? It is turned on with the max hard drive space allotted. Third, I cannot add any Windows XP fixes or updates, especially SP2. This is probably not related to the power outage, but still a problem. Any fix or update tells me I need SP2, but when I try to install SP2, it takes about two hours to load and at the end says "access denied" and spends another hour uninstalling all it just did. Any ideas? Also tried to install IE7, but it wouldn't work either, said I didn't have the necessary components. Thanks.

I don't believe this. You had 8 power outages and now you are asking us why you are having all kind of problems with the computer. It's the power outages may have damaged it. The first thing you should do is have a certified technician check it out for serviceability.

Yes, I sort of figured it was the power outage that started some of this. I'm just trying to get a little help or suggestions on possible software fixes, since it seems to be a software problem, only the programs running at the time of shutdown were affected. Outlook and IE6 still work, just not Outlook Express which was running at the time. I was told a possible fix was to install IE7 and it might fix OE, so the upgrade problems might have been there before.
