When I put xp I upgraded from 98 se, it told I might have problems with nortong and several other programs, most of them a reinstall fixed, but when I try to uninstall norton, mcfee and a few others I get this message, error 1606. Could not access netowrk location .allusers/ I have tried in administator under safe mode, but norton and mcfee won't allow uninstall under safe mode. Any info greatly appreciated.

Get rnav.exe at the Syamntec website and it will remove your Norton Antivirus software. Rnav.exe is also listed as a Google Search item, and a Google Searc will give you all the information you need. I do not know about Macafee, but they might have removal tools at their support website. All the best!

yeah I have to see if I get the xp disk again cause when I coppied it I didn't copy it right cause it doesn't auto start, (which means halfway though setup it won't detect the cd), there has to be a way to delete the files, even though dos maybe?

Have you tried to upgrade your Macafee to the XP version? I went to their site and there were no removal tools, but sometimes if you can install the upgrade on a trial basis, you can then uninstall the program. Take care!
