XP Pro sticker is blue, not yellow

Specs: Windows XP Pro
I'm trying to re-install XP Pro on my HP that has a blue product key sticker, but the installation asks for a yellow sticker. Is there an easier way to correct this other than purchasing another copy of XP Pro?

what do you mean it asks for a yellow sticker? I believe what you're telling us is that you're attempting to install XP with a retail copy rather than the HP copy. You don't have a Product key for the disc & it won't accept the HP Product key? Is that about right?

Try this: search your retail XP disc for a file named "unattend.txt"...it will be in the I386 folder. The last line of that file should have a generic product key. Use that key to install XP, then change it to a legit key afterwards.
