The problem I have is this:

I click on Start then Shutdown (not Restart) and the PC Resarts.

Same if I do Ctrl/Alt/Del and select shutdown too, also same on hitting the power button.

Thanks in advance for any help

the problem is likely your power scheme setup. go into the control panel and try disabling APM and see if that helps (you may need to disable the power setup in the bios as well)

I have the same problem easy cd creator. xp ask for updates I updated it, then ask for updates on the direct cd, but when updated it that is what actually coused the problem of not being able to shut the pc. uninstalled the direct cd. and everything was fine again. I'm still looking for a different update; 2 month ago I had a diffent one and it did work fine.

In your BIOS/CMOS settings (which you should get into right after your computer beeps on boot), make sure that Wake on Lan (or anything similar) is disabled.

I just built this computer today. I installed XP Pro. I am NOT using adaptech, I am using Nero. I have the MSI KT333 w/raid, but not I am not using the raid, it is disabled. When I shut down the machine, it restarts and then beeps 3 times? If I flip the switch on the Power Supply then back on, it will boot just fine. Any Ideas Anyone?

Thanks,

Andrew
