Is the computer working at the present time? Is it an OEM computer like Dell, Acer, Gateway, etc.

You didn't answer what type of computer. The method needed to proceed varies with the type. If OEM disks may be available from the vendor for a fee. Although if 6 years old they may not be available anymore.

Your first post indicates WinXP pro. That could indicate a custom built computer. If that is the case the CD is different.

Packard Bell is an OEM vendor. You need to have the install CD that matches your machine. You can try contacting packard Bell to see if they still have CDs available for the computer.

What is wrong with it now that it won't boot. Now adays you usually need to make your own restore CDs. If the oginal owner didn't do that you may still be able to, if you can get it running again.

Have you ever looked inside the Tower for DUST ?

DUST collects inside computers, and can cause hardware
damage, overheating, faulty fans, faulty drives
Is yours being kept clean.????
