Can anyone help, i have lost my windows xp pro, i have the product key number but no cd to install, is there anyway i can reinstall my windows without the cd software.. reason i have no cd i bought 2nd hand a few yrs ago, and didnt realise about all this jargon at the time.. please help..

Is the computer working at the present time? Is it an OEM computer like Dell, Acer, Gateway, etc.

You didn't answer what type of computer. The method needed to proceed varies with the type. If OEM disks may be available from the vendor for a fee. Although if 6 years old they may not be available anymore.
Your first post indicates WinXP pro. That could indicate a custom built computer. If that is the case the CD is different.

Hi, I dont know if this can shed light on it. the tower i have is a packard bell, monitor hewlet packard pavilion,pentium 2, xp pro, sorry but im not that up on ome etc.. rob

Packard Bell is an OEM vendor. You need to have the install CD that matches your machine. You can try contacting packard Bell to see if they still have CDs available for the computer.
What is wrong with it now that it won't boot. Now adays you usually need to make your own restore CDs. If the oginal owner didn't do that you may still be able to, if you can get it running again.
