Comment:

Cannot share folder correctly on my XP Pro machine and have checked the following:

-Simple File Sharing is disabled, logged in as Admin, have permissions to full control, formatted under NTFS

When I right click on folder I get 3 tabs: General, Security, Customize. I believe I am supposed to have 4 (General,Sharing Security Customize):

This is an example of what I cannot XP to do:

Thanks, maybe I'm just overlooking something small (I am learning btw ;-) )

'Simple File Sharing is DISABLED' ??? Seems to me it won't work so long as it's disabled. Enable?

booboo,

The reason why you don't see the fourth tab is explained in the following link

I read the following link and thanks to both of you, again just learning. I cannot access the sharing tab, I was able to before though? Created a folder named test in my root c: directory and nothing, no sharing tab? Read over the MS URL and still nothing? Does Simple File Sharing need to be enabled, I dont think so as XP PRO overides automatically with Advanced File Sharing does it not?

The only difference between simple and (not simple) "advanced" is the extent of control.

I think your issue is either one of two things. One is the folder is a system folder or the other is some selection somewhere (I forget where) that you enable system wide shares or not.

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.
