XP Pro Network problem

hi guys,
I have a problem with my xp pro. i want to put it in a network, that is connected over a router (network and internet).
The probelm that i have is, that i am not able to get access to the network... from the xp pro comp., i can ping all other computer, but i cannot see or access them...
I think, it is just a little hook, that i have to check or uncheck...

Chris, I had a similar problem that I fixed last night. I found that WinXP does not install the NetBEUI protocol, which your other computers probably use to allow you access to them. The instructions to install this protocol can be found at: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;q301041. After installing it you'll have to load it, right-click on MyNetPlaces, right-click on your LocalNet, Add, Protocol. Good luck,

you do not need NetBEUI protocol, are all your computers set to use DHCP or do they have assingned IP addreses???
