I have a dell 8100 running XP Pro. The problem started with Internet Explorer 6.0.28 not starting every once( Freezing and putting me in the send a message to???? ) and while. The problem became annoying. Since I am the system Admin on my home wireless network, my wife and my daughter dispatched me to handle the issue. I researched and a clean install of IE SP1 seemed to be the solution. I tried that and nothing happen ( Same problem came back). I then thought that a clean install of IE meant taking IE off the machine and reinstalling it.

Now the problem is I can't get back to the ctrl-atl-del Login Screen. I get 2 error messages

Message 1) The procedure entrypoint AssocisDangerous could not be Located in the dynamic link Library SHLWAPI.DLL

Message 2) The Logonuser interface DLL C:\Windows\System32\Awgina.dll failed to load.

IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO TO GET BACK TO THE CTRL-ALT-DEL screen

As I said I am running XP Pro, Zone Alarm Pro and Norton AV with 512mb . I just finished backing the system up on my Maxtor external drive.

DON't want to do a complete install of XP PRO again.

IF this is not the right group please refer me
any group that might help

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the response, I can't get to the login screen ( CTRl-ALT-DEL). It loops me back to Windows Start up. Push F1 and then I get the Win XP Black Screen and Then it goes to the 2 messages mentioned previously.

If could login then I could do a system Restore.

Thanks again

Your quickest fix then would be to put xp disk in

boot to bios set boot order to boot to cdrom then hdd 0

Save and exit

press any key to boot from cdrom

then it will start set up let it go through

when it finds your existing installation it will highlight and ask you if you want to windows to repair it

say yes and hit r for repair

do not use the recovery console.

This will fix your errors and you wont lose any files other than windows update.

Good Luck

I think I followed RobbieDickon instructions. I still get message: winlogon.exe - entryPoint not found.

The procedure entry point AssocIsDangerous could not be located in the dynamic link library SHLWAPI.dll

Thanks in advance for any reply

Thanks Robbie. What I failed to mention is that I have 2 HDD. Once I changed the sequence of the Hdd the system got to the login screen.

Thanks Again
